Guardian, however, was prepared explains Director of Information Technology, Joel Mallory, "Late last year we completed our generator project to directly address situations such as these." In November of 2012 a new 350 kilo-watt (KW) generator was installed that powers the entire building. A new rooftop 100 KW generator was also installed as a back up to the main generator. The smaller generator is capable of running our facilities’ core infrastructure, including the monitoring station.
"We have tested both of our new generators several times. However, this is the first extended, real world run and everything worked exactly as planned," stated David Labby, who oversaw the installation of the new generators and is Technology Manager for Guardian Alarm.
Our full operations continued on generator power throughout the weekend until power was restored Monday evening by DTE Energy. Both generators have seamlessly retransferred the load and shut down--all without a single alarm signal being missed due to the outage. Guardian Alarm customers can rest assured knowing that they will continue to receive uninterrupted service and monitoring thanks to the companies’ commitment to evolving and growing our infrastructure.
